  • Health Week 2022

Thu 26 May 2022 Mrs Bird

We have had yet another fantastic Health Week at Coppull Parish. All of our children have had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of different sports and activities to support their physical and social development and promote mental health and well-being. This year, they have participated in Forest School, tri-golf, the Beat Goes on, yoga, kick boxing, urban funk street dance, zumba, crown green bowling, mindfulness, reiki, Drumzaloud and first aid training. We also had a visit from Mr Ingham, who works for British Olympic Cycling, who brought with him Kyle Evans, a BMX Olympian who developed his skills at Coppull BMX track when he was a teenager. The children have also researched South African sporting stars, as part of our Geography continent focus and produced some wonderful facts files and biographies in Literacy.  A huge thank you to Mrs Cooper for organizing the event and well done to all the children who tried something new and discovered that they loved it!

  • Big Brekkie for Christian Aid Week

    Fri 20 May 2022

Our Kingdom Club arranged a Big Brekkie to raise funds for Christian Aid week today. We have 153 children sign up for the event and have raised £124 for this marvellous charity. Our Guardians and Deputy Guardians made all the toast, while the Kingdom Club were responsible for serving all the breakfasts and clearing up between sittings. They all did a magnificent job and should be very proud of themselves. Here are some photographs of the event.

  • Strider's visit to Coppull Parish

Wed 18 May 2022 Mrs Bird

Coppull Parish were selected for a visit from Strider, the WOW Travel Tracker mascot, as a special reward for being in the top 10 schools in the whole of Lancashire for participation in this active travel scheme. Our Kingdom Club signed up to the WOW Travel Tracker in order to reduce congestion and air pollution around school, and encourage the children to walk/cycle or scoot to school to improve their mental health and well-being whilst increasing their fitness. Our families have really supported us with this and the children wear their WOW badges with pride. There were crowds of excited children on the playground this morning, eager to meet Strider and have their photographs taken. Here are some photographs which capture the event. What a great start to the day!

  • PTFA Colour Run event

Fri 13 May 2022 Mrs Bird

Everyone who took part yesterday, as a participant in the run, or in a support role, appeared to be having a fabulous time at this new PTFA event. It was so wonderful to see children and parents running together, having fun and raising money for the school. A huge thank you to the PTFA team for coming up with the idea and organizing it so well. We are looking forward to finding out how much sponsor money has been raised, and will let you know when all monies are collected. In the meantime, well done to all the runners, sponsors and the people who gave up their time to support the event.

  • Check out our Playleaders!

Sat 07 May 2022 Mrs Bird

After receiving training from Mrs Smith, our PE coach, many of our Year 4 and 5 children are now qualified Playleaders and have been organizing games for all age groups at lunchtime break. Here are some photographs that Mrs Hindle took of the activities they ran last week. As you can see, they are doing a brilliant job. Well done Playleaders for all your hard work ensuring our children are taking part in physical activities and having fun!

  • Saving the bees and the environment

Wed 04 May 2022 Mrs Bird

This morning we’ve had an extra special visit from Councillor Steve Holgate talking to us about the EPIC project, which aims to plant more 'bee friendly' flowers around the Coppull and Chorley area. We know how important bees are for pollinating plants and ensuring we have lots of fruits and vegetables to eat. Tonight the children will be bringing home a packet of wildflower seeds to plant anywhere you can. This will help save the bees 🐝🐝🐝. We are asking parents to send in photographs of their wildflower gardens once they have had chance to flourish. Hopefully, we will get some images of bees enjoying the wildflower gardens our children have planted!

And as if this wasn't enough, Councillor Holgate also gave every child in the school a sunflower seed to plant. He reminded us that the sunflower is a symbol of Ukraine, so by planting these seeds around our school grounds, not only will we be helping the bees and improving our environment, we will be sending a message of support to the people of Ukraine. What a lovely idea!

Here is a photograph of Steve and Lynn speaking to the children in assembly, and meeting our Eco Team (who have already been very busy creating bird feeders this week).
