  • Easter Church Service at Coppull Parish

Thu 28 Mar 2024 Mrs Bird

We enjoyed a lovely Easter Service at Coppull Parish Church this morning. Reverend Matt delivered the service and was supported by the children from our Kingdom Club, who gave reading and read their prayers. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear and reflect upon the Easter story and the relationship between Maunday Thursday, the Last Supper and the Jewish feast of the Passover. Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us and to the Kingdom Club for your confident scripture readings.

We are delighted to announce that after a brilliant performance last night at St George's Hall in Blackburn, our choir won first place and are now finalists in the Last Choir Singing competition in June. Mrs Bridge, our talented choir leader, is incredibly proud of how well they performed last night and is very excited to be taking part in the finals. The school were treated to a wonderful performance this morning and thoroughly enjoyed the song choices and the choreography. Well done everyone involved and good luck for the finals - we can't wait!

  • World Downs Syndrome Day

Thu 21 Mar 2024 Mrs Bird

    World Downs Syndrome Day
We have all worn 'lots of socks' today to raise awareness and support World Downs Syndrome Day. Mrs Davison led an assembly, which explained what Downs Syndrome is and challenged the stereotypes that get attached to people with Downs Syndrome and cause prejudice.

At Coppull Parish we feel it is really important for us to recognise that we are all special, completely unique and loved by God. Our children had produced art work of different patterned socks, to show that we are all different yet wonderful, which was on display in the hall. Have a look at the photograph of the whole school and see how many different hair colours, different faces and different socks you can see. Well done Coppull Parish!!!

  • World Book Day and Poetry Slam

Thu 07 Mar 2024 Mrs Bird

    World Book Day Poetry Slam

What a brilliant day we have had today for WBD 2024. This year we decided to focus on poetry books and asked all the children to come in dressed as a character from a poem or nursery rhyme and they looked absolutely amazing. I don’t think two children wore the same outfit, there was so much imagination on display: we even had a real live Muffin Man, who brought in a tin of delicious muffins for us to eat. We started the morning with an incredible Poetry Slam, that saw all classes performing some wonderful poems and raps, with actions and humour – they had it all. What a fantastic way to celebrate WBD. Thank you to all our families for finding the outfits and helping the children to learn their poems. It was wonderful!! Take a look at our photographs of children and staff joining in the fun.

  • Careers Week

Mon 04 Mar 2024 Mrs Bird

This is Careers Week, so we have arranged for a few visitors to join us and tell the children all about their careers. On Monday morning, we had a visit from Jen, who is a copywriter, and Izzy, who is a marketing executive, from Buzz Education, to talk to the whole school about their careers. First of all, we explained that there are many different jobs and careers available to them when they leave school, but they need to make sure they choose something they enjoy doing and that they are good at and school can help them with this.

Jen and Izzy then explained what their jobs entailed and what skills and knowledge they needed to gain employment, and what subjects they needed to work hard at in order to do their job well. Our Kingdom Club also led a 'Who am I?' role play with the school, who did an excellent job of working out which careers they were portraying.

Afterwards, Jen led a workshop in our Year 5 class creating a holiday brochure, while Izzy led a workshop in Year 4 on persuasive advertising. Both classes are going to complete their projects and send it to Buzz Education for feedback.

We also had a fabulous visit from David from Community Rail, who delivered an important talk about rail safety before telling the children about all the varied careers on the railways: from drivers, engineers, cleaners, conductors, dispatchers and the people who work in the ticket offices. He also brought a range of outfits for the children to wear and explained each of the roles. What a great information session we had.

Our visitors and the follow up work we have had in class have definitely got the children thinking about what careers they might like in future and what skills and knowledge they need to acquire.
