Year 1

This year the children will enjoy an exciting transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage One and the National Curriculum. We aim to make this move as smooth as possible, encouraging learning through play and more structured activities. On our class page you will be able to find information about our class, learning and view photos of our varied activities. Mrs Lock will be the main class teacher, Mrs Davison will teach the children on Wednesday mornings. Our Teaching assistants in class each day are Mrs Spensley and Mrs Anderton.

Parental help is really important to us. We have a variety of activities you could participate in from reading and playing games to creative work. In every activity you will play a valuable role in helping each child develop new skills. Throughout the year we will be sending home activities you can assist your child with. We hope you will enjoy these!

It is really important for your child to practice reading often in order to consolidate their learning in school and to help them to broaden their vocabulary skills, general knowledge and imagination. While we practice reading in school as much as possible, each child is expected to read to an adult at home each week. This needs to be dated and signed by the adult who hears them to read in their reading record book.

Please keep up to date with our learning via Class Dojo and scroll down to read our current topics and learning for this half term.

Thank you for your continued support,
the Year 1 team.
