  • The Lazy Mondays visit Coppull Parish

    Mon 21 Nov 2011

Today we were visited by the band 'The Lazy Mondays' from Lancashire Music Service,
who performed a 40 minute set of pop songs for the whole school.

The four-piece band was made up of Debbie (vocals and keyboard),
Tony (drums), Brent (bass guitar) and Nick (guitar).

The band played and sang a variety of songs from different decades and
got the children and staff singing in their seats.
Some of our very own singers were invited onto the stage to perform with The Lazy Mondays.
As you can see from their faces, they enjoyed every minute of their singing and dancing.

Thank you to The Lazy Mondays for visiting us and giving an amazing performance!

  • Meeting the Olympic Mascot!

    Fri 18 Nov 2011

This afternoon some children from Y5 and Y6 were invited to a special
event at Coppull Primary School, where they were able to meet
the London 2012 Olympic mascot, Wenlock.

Unfortunately, Mandeville, who is the official Paralympics mascot, was unable to attend as he was busy meeting children at another school.

As well as having the chance to meet Wenlock,
we were also able to ask him a few questions whilst we were there.
We found out that he likes to throw the discus, his favourite athlete is Usain Bolt and that he is really looking forward to London hosting the Olympics next year.

It was great to meet Wenlock - we had a fantastic time!

    Did you know?

The mascots are named after the Shropshire town of Much Wenlock, which held a forerunner of the current Olympic Games, and Stoke Mandeville Hospital,
a facility in Buckinghamshire that initially organised the Stoke Mandeville Games,
the precursor of the Paralympic Games.

  • Going Spotty for Children in Need

    Fri 18 Nov 2011

Today Coppull Parish went completely spotty to raise money for Children in Need.
We were all asked to wear something spotty, from socks and tshirts, to jumpers and shoes!
    There were spots everywhere!

Our favourite teddy bears were also invited to come into school with us today, which we really liked.
Some of us even had our very own Pudsey bear!

As you can see from the photographs below,
we all had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Overall, we managed to raise an amazing £196 for Children in Need,
so thank you to everyone who brought a donation to school.

  • Southlands' Spelling Competition

    Wed 16 Nov 2011

For the second year running, children from Coppull Parish attended the annual spelling competition at Southlands High School.  Around 14 local schools attended the 'Hard Spell', which involved the children spelling words such as definitely, receipt and jewellery.

It was a tough competition, but the children all tried their best and it certainly challenged them!

Bethany, Ryan, Charlotte and Kai represented our school fantastically and came away with stunning certificates for their effort.  Well done!

Thank you also to Mrs Corry who organised and attended this event with the children.
