  • Primary Schools' Quiz

    Tue 24 Jan 2012
The grand final of the Primary Schools' Quiz took place on Monday 23rd January at Southlands High School.

    Our general knowledge team -
made up of Macy, Chloe, Megan and Ellie of Year 6 competed
against 19 other schools in front of a packed audience.

After the first two rounds the team hadn't made the leader board,
but by round 4 they had climbed to an amazing second place
which they held to the finish!

They were delighted to receive their certificates and trophies from Gordon Burns, who was the quiz master for the evening.

Well done team - it was a great result!

Also, a big thank you to Mrs Corry for organising
and attending this event with the children.
  • Bicycle & Scooter Safety

    Mon 23 Jan 2012

If your child comes to school on a bicycle or scooter they must wear a safety helmet

and once on school premises walk into school to avoid collisions with other children

or adults. Please talk to your child about road safety as we have been informed in

school that some children have crossed busy roads without looking and have nearly

    been involved in an accident.

We do want our children to be safe.

  • Harris Museum and Art Gallery Visit - Y3 & Y5

    Fri 20 Jan 2012

    Amazing Art Adventure

On Thursday 19th January, Year 3 & Year 5 visited the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston as part of the ART ATTACK topic.

During the day the children enjoyed a workshop entitled
    ‘Every picture tells a story’.
During this workshop children were able to investigate relationships within paintings and bring them to life through drama and visual art.

The children were also able to explore the
Ceramics and Glass Gallery as well as the Costume Gallery.

Whilst exploring the galleries, they were able to complete many activities and investigations linked to ceramics, glass
    and patterns in costumes.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole day.

We hope you enjoy reading some of the
    children's comments about the trip.

I liked it when we went to the Glass Gallery because we saw pretty perfume bottles with designs on the glass.

My best bit was the costume gallery because I liked all of the different patterns on them. There were some stripy, spotty and some without a pattern at all.

Our trip to the art gallery was great!
My favourite part was the workshop because of the acting, which I like.
    I had a great pose!

My favourite part of the trip was the workshop with Gillian
and acting a painting out.    My best painting was ‘Escape from the Nile’.

  • Harris Museum and Art Gallery Assembly

    Mon 09 Jan 2012

Today marked the start of our ART ATTACK topic here at Coppull Parish!

Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at  many different artists and their work, as well as creating our very own masterpieces!

As part of our new topic, Mrs Hunt, from the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, came into school today to lead our assembly.

During the assembly, she showed us many wonderful pieces
of art work from photographs to paintings,
and even some beautiful decorative perfume bottles,
all of which can be found at the Harris Museum.

It was great to be able to look at and discuss the art work, in addition to finding out some interesting information about each one.

One of our favourite pieces was a collection of scent bottles which were donated to the Harris by a lady called Mrs French.

Did you know that the largest scent bottle collection in Britain, and one of the most important in the world, can be found at the Harris?

We all really enjoyed this assembly and it was a great way to start our
ART ATTACK topic for this half term.

Y3 and Y5 will be going to visit the Harris soon as part of
    the ART ATTACK topic.
