Intent Statement for PSHE
At Coppull Parish C of E Primary school, our intent is to deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more. At Coppull Parish C of E Primary School, personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of a society. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up in our modern world. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about their rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.
Underpinned by the following Coppull Parish curriculum drivers:
Developing Speech & Language:
PSHE provides many opportunities for role play, debates, discussion and presenting ideas, all of these skills develop the children's speaking, listening and vocabulary. We develop children’s emotional literacy in order for them to express their feelings confidently and appropriately.
Diversity:
In PSHE we discuss the similarities and differences between us and the wider community ensuring they know and understand what it means to be a member of the diverse world we live in, including the makeup of different families, sexual orientations and ethnicities to reflect the rich diversity of modern british life.
Mental Health & Wellbeing:
Mental Health and Wellbeing is embedded throughout the PSHE curriculum and wider school life. The children are given opportunities to discuss their feelings, emotions and opinions in order to understand and recognise their mental health and wellbeing.
