  • Chip Celebration Concert

Thu 26 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
Mrs Jones, Miss Robson and I were very proud to take Coppull Parish's 'Glee Club' to represent the school at the Chorley Heads in Partnership Celebration Concert on 6th of November. Each school in the cluster took a group of children to showcase their talents to the rest of the schools. It was a wonderful event, with the majority of schools bringing fantastic choirs, and Coppull Parish and Rivington Primary bringing some talented dancers. Our children delivered a polished performance of 'Singing in the Rain' - complete with umbrellas! - that wowed the audience. They were absolutely wonderful, shone with talent and represented the school to the highest standard. We were very proud of them. A big thank you to the talented Miss Robson and Mrs Jones, who taught the children all the choreography and helped them to achieve such a professional performance. Here are some photographs of the event.
  • African Art competition

Thu 26 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
Miss Blackledge, our Art and DT leader, arranged an African Art competition for the children, which linked with Wear it Wild day and our Geography Quiz. We were all astounded by the quality of the art work that the children produced. It was a very difficult task to choose two winners, so we ended up having one from each class, who received their awards in assembly this week. Well done to all the children who entered, their work was colourful, creative and really captured the African spirit. Have a look at the photographs we took of their wonderful artworks.
  • Chorley Schools Celebration Concert

    Tue 24 Oct 2017 K Robson

On Monday 23rd October, children who attended Glee club went to Holy Cross High School to perform in a concert. This concert was a showcase of talent in Chorley schools and was jam packed with lots of beautiful singing and dancing. We performed a dance the children had been working really hard on with Miss Robson and Mrs Jones. All of the children not only performed brilliantly but were also exemplary representatives of our school. Well done to all who took part!

  • Wear it Wild Day & The Big Geography Quiz

Fri 20 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
Our school council organized a 'Wear it Wild' day to raise funds for the World Wildlife Fund. So we invited all the children to come to school dressed as Jungle animals, as we have been studying the African continent, as part of our Geography Curriculum this term. Miss Grimes also organised a Geography Quiz to test our knowledge of the African continent, which was extremely challenging, but the children performed brilliantly at it. We have all had yet another great day of enjoyable learning at Coppull Parish. Have a look at our class photographs to see how many different animals you can spot!
  • A chance to meet the PTFA and Governors

Fri 13 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
The PTFA and Governors organized a social event, in order for parents to come along and learn more about their roles and the ways in which they support the school. Alongside the PTFA and Governors, we had the vicar, Reverend Matt Hornby, and Mrs Ingham, who runs the Sunday School at Coppull Parish, in attendance. It was a good evening, so well done to the PTFA for organizing this enjoyable event for the benefit of our parents.
  • Open Afternoon

Thu 12 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird

We held our Open Afternoon for prospective parents of the new intake for September 2018 on Wednesday 11th October. Our School Guardians and House Captains did a wonderful job of showing families around the school and explaining why Coppull Parish is such a fantastic place to learn. Our visitors were very impressed with them and the school. Here is a copy of the presentation for parents, for those who were unable to attend on the day.

  • Science Hunters

Tue 10 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
As it is Earth Science Week this week, we invited Dr Jackie Hartley from Lancaster University into school with the Science Hunters project. She taught the children all about volcanoes in an entertaining, interactive assembly; and then spent the rest of the day leading 'Minecraft' workshops, in which children from Reception to Year 6 constructed their own volcanoes. The children learned an enormous amount and had a terrific time.
  • Harvest donations

Thu 05 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
Our school guardians, Mia and Oliver, helped to carry all your generous donations of food to Coppull Parish Church, in preparation for our Harvest Service tomorrow morning. I am sure the Salvation Army at Wigan, will make very good use of it!
  • MacMillan Coffee Morning

Tue 03 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
Coppull Parish held a MacMillan Coffee Morning today, to raise funds for the MacMillan nurses charity. As usual, we had many excellent bakers, who donated delicious sponges, muffins and cupcakes for the event. Our children, and the parents who were able to join us, thoroughly enjoyed them. This year, Lacey Booth, one of our pupils who suffers from coeliac disease, and our school council, ran a gluten free stall to raise awareness and funds for a coeliac charity. A big thank you to all those that kindly donated cakes, and all those that kindly ate them. You helped us raise £281 for this worthwhile cause.
