  • Non-Uniform Day

    Fri 21 Oct 2011
After half term the whole school will enjoy a professional pantomime of Beauty and the Beast here at Coppull Parish.  Today we held a non-uniform day and asked for donations to help towards the cost of this extra special visit.

The children were asked to dress up as their favourite pantomine or book character.  Many children (and of course their parents) had gone to a lot of effort with their costumes and they all looked absolutely wonderful.

I wonder which characters can you spot in the photographs below?

A big thank you to everyone who dressed up today and to those who sent in donations.  I know everyone is looking forward to the pantomime on Tuesday 1st November.  I'm sure it will be great!
  • Open Afternoon

    Thu 20 Oct 2011
Thank you to everyone who visited us on our Open Afternoon today. It was great that so many people attended and I know that the children really enjoyed sharing their learning with you.

It was also lovely to hear such positive comments about Coppull Parish and all the work that we are doing.  We hope you all enjoyed it.

Thank you to P.A.S.T. for providing the refreshments at this event.
  • Congratulations!

    Thu 20 Oct 2011

Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Jones on the birth of their baby daughter, Molly Evie.

All of the children were so happy to hear that Mrs Jones' baby had arrived this morning.

Best wishes to all the family and we all hope that we will see Mrs Jones and Molly soon.

  • Y2 Class Worship

    Tue 18 Oct 2011
On Tuesday 18th October, Year 2 did their class assembly all about 'Autumn'.  Some parents came to see their worship and the whole school also watched it.

The children in Year 2 had an Autumn week were they went outside into our school grounds to see what they could find.  They made their findings into square frames using the willow, and hung conkers, leaves and other findings on them.  We all thought that they looked great.

During their worship they told us about what they had done as part of their Autumn Week.  It included going on a nature walk, eating treacle toffee and even hugging trees!  They also sung two songs called 'conkers' and 'I love the sun'.

We all really enjoyed the assembly.  Well done Year 2 and Mrs Jaques!

  • Primary Quiz Results

    Mon 17 Oct 2011

Today was the day that many children in Year 6 had been waiting for - the results of the annual Primary Quiz arrived.

For three weeks, Year 6 children have been attending Southlands High School to take part in the quiz.  It has encompassed specialist rounds in science, words and sports, in addition to general knowledge.

Macy, Megan, Ellie and Chloe competed in the general knowledge rounds and were excellent ambassadors for Coppull Parish.  They answered picture rounds, observation and memory rounds to name but a few.

Our  team of Adam and Alfie performed tremendously together making electrical circuits during the science round, and Ryan and Amanda went spelling crazy in the words round.  Kian and Alec came an an excellent second in their sports specialist round - well done boys!

It was a real team effort and the whole team worked together throughout the quiz.

Overall, Coppull Parish came an impressive 2nd out of the 20 teams that competed.  Congratulations!

Many thanks to Mrs Corry for organising and attending the quiz with the teams.  It was much appreciated by everyone at school.

  • Robinwood Visit for Year 5 & 6

    Mon 03 Oct 2011

This weekend 35 children from Years 5 & 6 were very lucky to go on an adventure weekend to Barhaugh Hall in Alston.  Over the three days at Robinwood, the children managed to take part in over 14 different activities from archery to zip wire.  I don't know how we managed to fit it all in!

Our adventure started with a walk through the Pennine hills with our group leaders for a moorland challenge - we couldn't believe how beautiful it was!

Whilst at Robinwood, we took part in many activities including

     - stream walk
     - canoeing
     - climing wall
     - obstacle course
     - trapeze
     - caving

Have a look at the photographs and see which activities you can see us taking part in.

We had an incredible time at Robinwood, and this was with credit to our excellent group leaders.  Alex, Chris and Meg were so encouraging and many of us, with their support, faced our fears at Robinwood, whether it was of heights, water or the dark.  We felt so proud of ourselves.

We all had a wonderful, action-packed weekend at Alston and we didn't want to leave! The children were commended for their good behaviour and were a credit to Coppull Parish.

It was a fantastic weekend and some of us can't wait to visit again next year!
