  • Kingdom Club's Fairtrade assembly

Fri 25 Feb 2022 Mrs Bird

As we are a Fairtrade school and it is Fairtrade Fortnight, our Kingdom Club led a brilliant assembly today explaining Fairtrade to their classmates and families. They were clearly passionate about fairness and justice for the hard working Fairtrade farmers, who produce essential products we cannot grown in Great Britain, and set out their plan to address this at Coppull Parish. They are organizing Fairtrade Fridays each week for the rest of the half term, where they run a Fairtrade stall selling orange juice and biscuits. Next Friday, they have organized a Fairtrade Bake Off competition, and a Fairtrade coffee morning, accompanied by a Fairtrade stall run by Cath Greenless, our local Fairtrade representative. In addition, for next week they have organized Fairtrade lessons for every class to complete, finished by a Fairtrade Quiz at the end of the fortnight. They have been an amazing driving force to raise awareness of Fairtrade and ensure that everyone has a wonderful time supporting this worthwhile cause. A huge well done to the Kingdom Club: Vanessa, Millie, Autumn, Maisie, Jennifer, Lyra, Natalia, Mark, Zak, Laycie and Evie for all their hard work and commitment to improving the lives of others.

  • Forest School Club

Thu 24 Feb 2022 Mrs Bird

Forest School Club is up and running again in the Spring term. This week's session required lots of patience and determination. The children created rafts light enough to float on water. Some children managed to create their own bridge to cross the river. They enjoyed their favourite game of '1,2,3 where are you?' and drank hot chocolate to end the session. Check out the happy children on the photographs!

  • Extreme Reading Competition

    Thu 24 Feb 2022

At Coppull Parish Primary School we are always looking for new and exciting ways to celebrate the excellent reading our children do, both inside and outside of school.

This year, in line with our World Book Day Celebrations, we are introducing an Extreme Reading Competition! This is where children are photographed reading in a place different from the norm. It could be anywhere from the beach, to a forest to under their bed! Obviously, we encourage the children to keep safe, but we are really looking forward to seeing who in school has such a passion for reading that they will do it anywhere.

Please submit your entries to Mrs Clarkson on Class Dojo either in the Extreme Reading Competition folder on Class Dojo Portfolios or through Class Dojo messaging. You can enter more than one photo.

Entries for the competition will close on Monday 14th March. We will use the photos to create an Extreme Reading Display in our school library.

The class with the most entries will win a treat of their choice e.g. new books for their class library, an extra playtime with treats!

        Have fun!

  • Positive Me group's Cake Sale

Wed 23 Feb 2022 Mrs Bird

Our Positive Me group, run by Mrs Henrys, have been thinking of ways to make a positive change to themselves and the world around them this half term. As a consequence of this, they decided to run a bake sale today to raise funds for the Woodlands Animal Sanctuary. They have all been busy baking delicious cakes in preparation for the event, and were delighted with the hungry crowds who turned up to support them. Well done to the Positive Me group for taking positive action to improve the lives of animals, and well done to all the adults who have helped them to raise £54.40 for this wonderful cause.

  • Chorley What's Your Story Book Bench

Tue 22 Feb 2022 Mrs Buckle

We are delighted to be taking part in the Book Bench trail this year as part of the ‘what’s your story, Chorley?’ initiative. This year the children of Coppull Parish have decided to design their bench on the wonderful and inspiring book ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds. This captivating book celebrates individuality and encourages all children to make a mark and see where it takes them.

We asked the children to come up with their own, unique dot to be painted o to this bench. The entries were phenomenal! We whittled it down to 7 from each class. These lucky children were able to make their mark on the bench, which will be proudly displayed in Chorley town centre from the 17th March.

We absolutely LOVE the finished result and are extremely proud of what the children have created. I’m sure you will be too, when you watch our video and look at the photographs.
