  • Book Bus Bonanza

Sat 30 Nov 2019 Mrs Bird
Our children and many of our families had a wonderful time visiting our Book People Book Bus recently and had the opportunity to browse a wide selection of brilliant books and purchase the ones they couldn't resist. This has enabled us to purchase 19 sets of books for the school. Each set ranges from 7-12 books, with one of the phonics sets containing 33 books – so they have helped us buy a lot of books for the school. We really appreciate everyone's support and wanted you to know what a difference this makes to all the children’s education. We asked children from each class to show us their favourite book, and here are some of the photographs.
  • Year 2 'Come Dine With Me' event

Sat 30 Nov 2019 Mrs Bird
This Wednesday our Year 2 class invited their families into school for the morning to take part in some Healthy Lifestyles activities and enjoy spending time having a family lunch together. Having spoken to several of our parents, they thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, including the delicious lunch served by Mrs Eccles and her hard-working team. This event is going to be rolled out to every year group over the year, as part of the school’s focus on promoting Healthy Lifestyles, which is one of our curriculum drivers. Well done to Mrs Clarkson and Mrs Smith, our PE advisor, for taking the lead on this, and making the morning so enjoyable for our children and their families. Here are some photographs of everyone sharing lunch together.
  • Spelling Bee

Mon 18 Nov 2019 Mrs Bird
Last week, all the children from Year 1 to Year 6 took part in a Spelling Bee organized by Mrs Clarkson, our Literacy leader. All the children were given a set of spellings (which they need to know by the end of this school year) to learn for homework. They all worked really hard practising them with their parents, then took part in a spelling competition against their classmates, to find the children who achieved the highest scores. These children were then put forward to the Spelling Bee final on Wednesday afternoon, where they competed against the best spellers from the rest of the school. And what a hard fought competition it was! Each child was tested on spellings from their own year group list, and everyone was amazed by the children's confidence and accuracy. Eventually, one by one, children made tiny errors, which left one man standing ....... Albie from Year 4. What a great achievement Albie! And a massive well done to all the finalists, who were phenomenal, and everyone else who took part. Everyone's spelling will have improved as a result of this Spelling Bee, possibly including your parents! Well done Mrs Clarkson for organizing such a great school event, we'll have to make it an annual event from now on.
  • Parliament Day

Mon 04 Nov 2019 Mrs Bird
Today we were fortunate enough to have a very special visitor in school, who led an assembly all about the Government and Parliament. He taught the children about democracy and the rule of law and why our country has leaders who ensure that these British Values are upheld by Parliament and the House of Lords. Later, our visitor led workshops for our Year 3 and Year 6 children, to discuss it in greater depth. Well done to Mrs Jones for arranging this great visit.
