  • Fairtrade Coffee Morning and Bake Off Competition

Fri 10 Mar 2023 Mrs Bird

Fairtrade Coffee Morning and Bake Off Competition

What a brilliant start to a Friday morning! We were inundated with donations of delicious cakes, biscuits and traybakes for our Fairtrade Coffee Morning and were pleased to welcome some of our parents & grandparents to enjoy them with a nice hot drink. Thank you to everyone who baked for us, all the children have had the opportunity to go to the hall and purchase cakes this morning - I can't tell you how excited they were to see the wonderful selection to choose from.

We we delighted by the number of children's entries for the Bake Off competition this year - the standard was so high, Cath Greenless had such a difficult job judging them. Finally, after a lot of comparative tasting, she chose the Nutella Crumble cake baked by Santina in Year 4, as the overall winner. However, she was so impressed by the quality of the entries, she awarded all the children who entered with a bar of Fairtrade chocolate. The adult winner was Sandra Kay, who produced a delicious chocolate ring cake. Well done to everyone involved.

So far we have raised £110 - so a huge well done to the children from the Kingdom Club who organized the event, baked and decorated cakes and ran the coffee morning, all in support of Fairtrade. You should be very proud of yourselves.

Thank you everyone for your amazing support.

  • World Book Day 2023

    Wed 01 Mar 2023

    Happy World Book Day!

We celebrated World Book Day a day early as we had a very special visitor planned:

author Sean Perkins!  We have had a fantastic time listening to Sean's books all about Oscar and Ben. Sean then delivered workshops throughout the school where children created their own Teacher Creatures or Personified stationary.

Sean even got us joining in with a sing song about Oscar and Ben.

Our theme for World Book Day has been Snuggle up with a Book. We all came to school in our pyjamas and have had a wonderful day reading with our friends.

  • Coppull Parish Poetry Slam 2023

Fri 10 Feb 2023 Mrs Clarkson

Coppull Parish Primary School Poetry Slam 2023

This morning every class took part in the Coppull Parish Poetry Slam. We had such a wide variety of poems from classic rhymes to modern poetry which even linked in to Safer Internet day!
The children were full of creativity and confidence with some children even reading out their own poems that they had written in class. Some classes thought of actions to go along with their poems some classes even had props.

Videos of the performances have been posted on to Class Dojo if you would like to have a listen.
A massive well done to everybody!

  • Whole School Visit from Poet Andy Tooze

    Wed 08 Feb 2023

This term our focus in English has been poetry. We have absolutely loved reading a diverse selection of poems from a variety of poets. On Friday we will be holding a Poetry Slam so to get us buzzing about poetry we were lucky to have poet Andy Tooze visit us.

We started the day with a whole school assembly where Andy performed his poems and got us up and joining in.

Throughout the day each class had a workshop with Andy were they learnt a poem and wrote their own poems.

At the end of the day we had a special assembly where a few children from each class performed their poems (even some of the teachers and adults performed too).

It was such a fantastic day and we are all so excited for the poetry slam on Friday now!

  • Kingdom Club attend the Fairtrade Conference

Mon 30 Jan 2023 Mrs Bird

Last Friday, four members of the Kingdom Club were lucky enough to be invited to the Fairtrade Conference organized by Lancashire County Council at County Hall in Preston. It was a wonderful day. The children met in the grand Council Chamber and took part in lectures, workshops and quizzes about various aspects of Fairtrade, including the production of tea, cocoa and chocolate. The children learned a great deal and will be sharing this with the rest of the school in an assembly during Fairtrade Fortnight this year.

We took lots of photographs to commemorate the occasion. Take a look at what we got up to.

  • Whole school trip to Blackburn Ice Show

Thu 15 Dec 2022 Mrs Bird

This afternoon, the entire school went to Blackburn to watch Christmas Carol on Ice at Blackburn Ice Arena. It was a real treat, with fantastic ice dancers and a great re-telling of the story of Scrooge. It was VERY cold in the arena, but we had a wonderful time. Here are some photographs of the performance.

  • Homestart Christmas Gift Appeal

Mon 12 Dec 2022 Mrs Bird

Our Kingdom Club heard about Homestart Christmas Gift Appeal and asked our families to donate gifts to support families in crisis over Christmas. Matthew from Homestart joined us for worship this morning to collect the gifts our families kindly donated to their appeal. These gifts will be very much appreciated by the families who receive them, so the Kingdom Club and Homestart wanted to say thank you for your generosity Coppull Parish.

  • Our Kingdom Club supporting Fairtrade

Fri 02 Dec 2022 Mrs Bird

On Thursday, this week, our Kingdom Club delivered an assembly all about Fairtrade, which showed how many people were involved in the production and delivery of chocolate from around the world. They shared their desire to support the Fairtrade farmers to get a fair wage for their hard work and to contribute to the Fairtrade Premium, which enables farming communities to build schools, hospitals and have basic necessities, such as running water, drainage and electricity. In addition to the assembly, they have sold Fairtrade biscuits for Fairtrade Friday today. Well done for our Kingdom Club for their commitment to improving the lives of others - you should be very proud.
