Cooking Crazy at Coppull Parish
Tue 11 Feb 2020As part of Spirituality Week, each class has been focusing on a major world faith and learning about their beliefs, traditions and culture. As part of this, our children have been studying their festivals and the foods from these different cultures and preparing them and cooking them in class. As a school, one of our Curriculum Drivers is to teach children about healthy eating and how to prepare food and cook it safely, so we have really been able to put all this good learning into practice this week. Here are some photographs of the classes making their delicious food, which will be shared with the rest of the school in our sharing assembly in the afternoon. There are also a couple of photographs of the assembly, showing the judges deliberating over the best dish of the day.

Worship Group assembly
Tue 11 Feb 2020This half term, our worship is focused on God's Big Story. So far we have covered the story of Creation and The Fall and are currently learning some of the stories from the People of God section, which focuses on the Old Testament stories. Our Worship Group chose to lead an assembly on David and Goliath today, to teach everyone that if you trust in God, anything is possible - even defeating an enormous warrior giant!! The children did a dramatic performance of the story, then finished with a prayer and a hymn. Well done to the Worship Group for your efforts!

Kingdom Club update
Tue 21 Jan 2020Following on from our Animal Rescue assembly this morning, the Kingdom Club met with Michael Jones from the charity to discuss ways that they can support his team with their worthwhile work, whilst also improving the lives of animals in our community. It is part of our mission as a school to create courageous Christians, who try to improve the lives of everyone in our local area, the wider community and worldwide and everything in it. After a discussion with Michael, the Kingdom Club have decided to raise funds for the Animal Rescue Centre by creating a pet bakery stall, selling healthy snacks for pets in our school community and sending them the profits. They are also going to organize a sponsored dog walk, later in the school year, to reinforce the need for exercising our pets, whilst raising funds for the centre. The Kingdom Club are very excited about their forthcoming projects and having a chance to make a difference to their world.

Animal Rescue Assembly
Tue 21 Jan 2020Today we were visited by Michael Jones from the Animal Rescue Centre in Lancaster, who led an assembly (with Oatie, a rescued Border Collie) telling the children all about how to be safe around animals, how to be a responsible pet owner and all about the work of the Animal Rescue Centre. The children were incredibly interested in learning all about his work and loved the opportunity to meet Oatie. Our Kingdom Club had sent out an appeal beforehand to ask for donations for the Animal Rescue Centre and Michael was delighted by our generous gifts. So a big thank you is needed to the Kingdom Club for arranging this visit and to Michael and all his team for their excellent work protecting vulnerable animals in our society. Michael wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who was able to donate foodstuffs for the centre, as the need is always there.

Islam Assembly
Tue 07 Jan 2020We were delighted to welcome Imran Kotwal to Coppull Parish today to provide our children and families with an introduction to the Islamic faith and to discuss the British Values of tolerance and respect. Imran is a British Muslim from Bolton, who delivers assemblies and workshops for the Muslim Learners Service. He brought along a lot of religious artefacts which helped him to explain the 5 Pillars of Islam to our pupils, staff and parents. Then he asked a lot of questions, to check we had been listening carefully ..... and we had!!! We remembered that the 5 Pillars were: belief in God; prayer (5 x a day); charity; fasting (during Ramadan) and Pilgrimage (Hajj). Everyone was really interested to learn more about the Islamic faith and get to meet someone from the Muslim community, which is great news, because we are inviting Imran back later in the year to work with some of our classes and look at Islam in more depth as part of our Religious Education and PSHE curriculum.
