  • Ethos Conference

Tue 04 Mar 2025 Mrs Bird

Today, Mrs Hackett, our Chair of Governors, accompanied 3 lucky children from our Worship Group to St James' Primary School to attend their Ethos Conference. The focus of the day was prayer, so the children took part in lots of different prayer activities, which they will be sharing with the rest of the Worship group over the coming weeks. Here are some photographs of the day.

  • Year 5 visit to London

Mon 03 Mar 2025 Mrs Bird

Our Year 5 class were lucky enough to be invited to meet the Speaker of the House of Commons, on Speaker's Day last week, so Miss Robson took the opportunity to arrange a visit to London for the day. It was such a busy, activity packed day, in which the children visited many of the major London sites, such as Buckingham Palace, Green Park, the Mall, Trafalgar Square, Downing Street, the Cenotaph, the Palace of Westminster and the British Museum. For many of our children, this was their first time on a train, or visiting our capital city and they absolutely loved it and the adventure of navigating the underground 'tube' system. One of the most memorable parts of the day was visiting Westminster Palace and getting to observe Members of Parliament debating in the House of Commons and the Lords and Baronesses debating in the House of Lords. And as if that wasn't enough - they were invited to the Speakers' House, where they met Sir Lindsey Hoyle (the MP for Chorley and Speaker) and asked him some really interesting and challenging questions, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The spent the afternoon research the Anglo-Saxons in the British Museum and were delighted to see all the artefacts from the Sutton Hoo burial site, that they had been learning about in History. It was such a wonderful day and the children made many fabulous memories and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Here are some photographs of their key moments.
