We had a visit from Simon from Flat Stan First Aid training today, who worked with Year 2, 4, 5 and 6 and taught them a wide range of first aid techniques. The children were taught resuscitation skills and what to do if someone is choking, as well as how to deal with cuts and minor injuries. Simon said that the children were really interested, asked some great questions and demonstrated their sound understanding at the end of each session. Hopefully this knowledge and skills will stay with them for life.
Here are some photographs of our Year 2 children demonstrating their learning. Well done children!
We celebrated Roald Dahl day by dressing up as our favourite Roald Dahl character and spending the day exploring some of his fabulous books. The staff and children had a wonderful time and enjoyed reading lots of wonderful stories. How many characters can you identify from our photographs?
It was the first day back at school yesterday and our children were greeted by the sight of a huge marquee on the playground, which contained a heated swimming pool. Our Year 3 children will be swimming every afternoon for the first two weeks, while our Year 2 and any non-swimmers higher up the school will be in there every afternoon. They will have a swimming instructor in the water with them - you can see her in the photograph - to help them perfect their technique and a lifeguard outside, to keep them all safe. Having spoken to several of the children yesterday, they had a great time and are already becoming much more confident in the water. What a great start to the new school year!
