  • Spirituality Week - Prayer Stations

Thu 23 May 2024 Mrs Bird

Our Kingdom Club created lots of different prayer stations as their contribution to Spirituality Week at Coppull Parish. Every class has spent time at each of the 7 stations and had opportunity to reflect on their beliefs, the school vision and write thank you messages and prayers. Our Year 6 children buddied up with Reception, while Year 5 supported the Year 1 children so that everyone could join in. The children had a lovely time and have produced some wonderful pieces of work.

  • Dogs' Trust visit

Wed 22 May 2024 Mrs Bird

We were delighted to welcome the Dogs’ Trust to Coppull Parish today. They delivered a whole school assembly and workshops for every age group. They taught children how to stay safe around dogs, by teaching them how dogs think and react in different situations; and how we always need to seek permission from owners and their dogs before approaching them. They also taught us how to look after dogs and be a responsible pet owner. The children had a wonderful time and will benefit from this invaluable advice from the experts. Thank you to the Dogs’ Trust for providing this education free of charge.

  • Year 3 Spirituality Assembly

Tue 21 May 2024 Mrs Bird

As it is Spirituality Week this week, our Year 3 class decided to focus on what spirituality meant to them for their whole school worship. Every child chose a moment, or activity, that was special to them, when they were connecting deeply with their family, friends or pets; or with the world around them, or spending time appreciating nature. They also showed us how art, poetry, creativity and music enables us to express ourselves and demonstrated this through their scissor-art (based on Henry Matisse) and a wonderful, uplifting song they performed with great enthusiasm. Well done Year 3 for sharing all your learning and producing a fabulous performance - we enjoyed it very much.

  • PTFA Colour Run event

Thu 16 May 2024 Mrs Bird

The PTFA organised a Colour Run event yesterday to raise funds for Vinnie's bionic arm and help fund the restoration of the hall floor for school. The weather was a mixed bag: with heavy showers interspersed by bright sunshine, this meant we didn't need to soak all runners after their warm up, which really disappointed Mr Culshaw - who was standing by with a hose! Miss Robson led a vigorous workout to get everyone ready and then we set off. The PTFA volunteers and school staff were armed with paint shakers and powerful water guns and had an absolute ball targeting everyone. It was lovely to see so many families running together, having fun and raising so much sponsorship money for the two worthwhile causes. Have a look at the photographs - they definitely capture the fun we all had. A massive well done to the PTFA, who organised such a fabulous fundraiser and to all the staff and volunteers, who supported the event. Special thanks to all our runners and sponsors, who made the event truly memorable.

  • One handed Day

Wed 01 May 2024 Mrs Bird

Year 5 have organized a 'One Handed Day' to fundraise for a crowdfunding event for Vinnie, a pupil in their class who was born with a limb difference and is hoping to get fitted with a bionic hand. In order for our children to experience the many challenges that Vinnie overcomes on a regular basis, Vinnie and his class have designed some tricky tasks for the children to complete 'one handed'. Every class have taken part and the children were really surprised at how difficult tasks can be without the use of both hands. Vinnie, who was running one of the games at the time, said that he is really excited that everyone is learning about the challenges and having a lot of fun. He hopes that we get plenty of sponsorship money in so that he can raise enough money for this much needed bionic hand. Well done Vinnie, Mrs Jones and Year 5 for such a great idea and wonderful effort to support this fantastic fundraiser.

  • Recycling Workshops

Wed 01 May 2024 Mrs Bird

We were delighted to invite Konflux Theatre group into school to deliver a series of recycling workshops to Year 2, 3 4 and 5 today. The workshop was entitled: 'What goes around comes around' and was teaching the children about how to recycle and protect our planet. Our children thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and amazed our visitor with their enthusiasm and passion for looking after God's creation. He reported that he was very impressed with their knowledge and commitment to protect their environment through walking to school to cut pollution and congestion; reducing waste and recycling. Here are some photographs of our Year 2 class enjoying the session.
