  • A Wriggly Nativity

    Tue 11 Dec 2012
Today we were treated to a wonderful nativity by our Reception Class.

The children all took part in 'A Wriggly Nativity', which involved singing, dancing, acting... and not to mention wriggling!

We all really enjoyed it and were so proud of you!

A special thanks to Miss Jenkins, Miss Carvell and Mrs Winward for all their efforts with this production.
  • Children in Need

    Fri 16 Nov 2012

In aid of Children in Need,
Coppull Parish held a non-uniform day
    on Friday 16th November.

The children were asked to 'Show Their Spots'
    for this occasion.

Thank you for all of your kind donations to Children in Need. So far we have collected an amazing £213.40 at school and  Cool Club added a further £20.00 by selling cakes.

    Well done everyone.

  • UPDATE - The Gambia!

    Fri 09 Nov 2012

Today we received an exciting letter from Mr Bolam regarding the container being sent to Bijilo Lower Basic School in The Gambia.

As you may remember, the School Council organised a
non-uniform day a few weeks ago to collect stationery
items for us to send to this school.

The container was successfully loaded on Monday 29th October with our seven boxes, aswell as many other items.

Do read the letter on the Latest News Documents page to see some of the photographs and to read the letter of thanks from Mr Bolam.

  • Non-Uniform Day in aid of Bijilo Lower Basic School in The Gambia

    Fri 19 Oct 2012
On Friday 19th October, Coppull Parish held a non-uniform day.
Usually on non-uniform days we are asked to bring in some money,
but today was different. We had to bring in some stationery.
Mr Bolam from Southlands High School organised the non-uniform day at Coppull Parish with the help of our school council.
All the stationery that we collected here we will be sending to Bijilo Lower Basic School in The Gambia. Mr Bolam has rented a truck and container to take all the collected items to the school in The Gambia.
Mr Bolam came into our school for Sharing Assembly and he was amazed at just how much stationery each class had brought in.
I wonder what the School Council has in store for us next?

  • Royal Arrival!

    Thu 11 Oct 2012
Last year as part of our Celebrations for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, Year 1 wrote to the Queen to congratulate her on her long reign on the throne!

I am delighted to announce that we have received a letter back from Buckingham Palace to say thank you to all the Year 1 pupils who sent such lovely words and pictures.

  • The School Council Needs Your Help!

    Thu 11 Oct 2012

At Coppull Parish, we have decided to support Bijilo Lower Basic School in The Gambia during this coming year.

Through the help of our School Council, Mr Bolam and Southlands High School we hope to support this school as much as we can.
As you can see from the images below,
this school is very different to ours and they really would appreciate
any help that we could give them.

The first fundraising event organised by the School Council is a
non-uniform day on Friday 19th October.

Children are to bring in an item of stationery (new) as their
    forfeit for the non-uniform day.

    This could include
    • packs of pencils
    • erasers
    • pencil sharpeners
    • coloured/white reams and rolls of paper
    • coloured pencils and crayons
    • rulers
    • blu-tak
    • packs of chalk and board rubbers
    • paint, paintbrushes and paint pots
    • solar-powered calculators
    • scissors
Each class will be given a box to  fill - we wonder which class can collect the most items?

Members of the School Council hope that you will support us with this event and throughout the coming year.
  • Y5 & Y6 Visit Robinwood!

    Mon 01 Oct 2012
This weekend children from Years 5 & 6 were very lucky to go on an adventure weekend to Barhaugh Hall in Alston.
During their time at Robinwood, we managed to take part in many different activities from archery to nightline.
I don't know how we managed to fit it all in!

Our adventure started with a walk through the Pennine hills
with our group leaders for a moorland challenge - even the rain
    didn't dampen our spirits!

Whilst at Robinwood, we took part in many activities including

     - canoeing
     - climing
     - crate challenge
     - obstacle course
     - trapeze
     - caving

Have a look at the photographs and see which activities you can
    see us taking part in.

We had an incredible time at Robinwood, and this was credit to our excellent group leaders.  Bradley, Ossy and Jamie were so encouraging and many of us, with their support, faced our fears at Robinwood, whether it was of heights, water or the dark.  We felt so proud of ourselves.

We all had a wonderful, action-packed weekend at Alston
and we didn't want to leave!

The children were commended for their good behaviour
and were a credit to Coppull Parish.

  • Singing with Joe!

    Thu 27 Sep 2012

Here at Coppull Parish we have been very lucky to have Joe in school
every Thursday morning to help us with our singing.

We have been busy learning special techniques to help us improve our singing and are already sounding much better!
We love learning new songs with one of our current favourites
    being the '1,2,3,4,5' song!

Although it may seem far away, we have already started practising our Christmas songs and hope to sing them at a large concert with other schools in Preston.
    Watch this space!

  • Primary Engineer Special Leaders Award for STEM 2012

    Tue 25 Sep 2012
Today Year 6 received some very exciting news!

In Year 5, all the children applied to be Primary Leaders for STEM
    (science, technology, engineering and maths),
which meant that they would try to promote these subjects here at Coppull Parish.  In order to complete this award, the children interviewed many people from these four subject areas, finding out about their role and their careers.  Through the interviews, the children found out about possible careers they could go into, in addition to discovering the importance of learning and education for whatever path they decide to take!
All of the children in Year 5 qualified to become
Primary Leaders for STEM which was a fantastic achievement.
    Well done Year 6!

However, if that wasn't exciting enough we discovered today
that two children in Year 6 won an extra-special
    Primary Engineer Leader Award.
Nathan Critchley and Amy Lowe were amongst the six overall winners for this national award.  Wow!

As a prize, Primary Engineer gave Nathan and Amy a book
token whilst the school received the Primary Bloodhound SSC recource pack.  They won this award for the quality of their interviews of Mr Dagley, who is a mechanical engineer.

Congratulations to all of Year 6 and in particular Nathan and Amy.
We are very proud of you.
