  • Spirituality Day

    Fri 23 Jan 2015

We held our Spirituality Week last week, based around the Christian values of:

    Peace,  Respect,  Love,  Forgiveness.

We began the week with a day of Yoga, where each class enjoyed an introductory session in Yoga, including deep breathing and very simple postures. This gave the children a wonderful opportunity to be calm and find inner peace. Classes enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the week culminating in 'Spirituality Day' where all of the classes set up 'stations' each focusing on a different Christian value.
Please see the Year pages for more information and photographs.

  • Yoga Day

    Tue 20 Jan 2015
On Tuesday all of the children experienced a Yoga session, taught by professional yoga instructor, Helen Cartmell. We all had a wonderful time relaxing in the hall with soft music, candles and incense burning! Helen helped the children to learn about their breath and how important it is to breathe deeply, especially if feeling worried or angry. We then all tried out some basic moves, like the mountain or tree posture copying our class teachers who were at the front with Helen! At the end we got to relax again on our mats ready to go back to class peacefully, ready to learn! We hope that Helen will be able to come back again!

This activity was organised in the build up to Spirituality Day on Friday, where each class will set up an interactive activity based on the Christian Values of love, peace, forgiveness and respect. We hope to see you there after school 3.15 - 4!
  • Christmas festivities

    Mon 15 Dec 2014
Over the past two weeks we have been very busy in school preparing for Christmas.

Reception Class all did a fantastic job in performing their 'Little Nativity' and Years 1 and 2 amazed us with their performance of 'Gabriel's Big Break', looking at the story of Christmas from a different point of view.
A special thanks to all the Key Stage 1 staff who helped make these a huge success!

Last week we held a Candle-Lit Carol Service complete with mulled wine, mince pies and hot chocolate. Thank you to all the children and parents who came and sang and made it a lovely occasion.

Today we had our annual Christmas Church service by Reverend Hudson. Due to the rain it was held in school but this certainly did not dampen our spirits! Reverend Hudson reminded the children to think about why we celebrate Christmas. Thank you to the Year 6 children who did the readings for us today.

We hope you all have a lovely Christmas time and look forward to seeing what the New Year brings.

    Merry Christmas!
  • Chocolate Bingo

    Fri 05 Dec 2014
Thank to all those that donated chocolate and came to the Chocolate Bingo last night. There was an overwhelming turn out and PAST raised £700!
Thank you for all your support!
  • Children in Need

    Fri 14 Nov 2014

Well done to all the children who brought in money to donate to Children in Need in exchange for dressing up as Superheroes! We were very impressed by the wide variety of ‘superheroes’ that came into school today, from Bradley Wiggins to Batman!

A special mention for Year 5, who as part of Maths Week, managed to raise £42.25 as part of an ‘Apprentice’ style task. They will be donating their £17.25 profit to Children in Need. To see how they did it, please visit the Year 5 class page.

So far we have raised a total of £169.95.
    Thank you for your support.
  • Maths Week

    Thu 13 Nov 2014
This week we have a fantastic ‘Maths’ week, with all classes completing lots of fun and exciting maths activities. Children applied their maths to real life situation by going shopping for ingredients and making sweet treats, other children completed maths trails around school, Year 4 children used their maths in their PE lessons to time each other and measure the lengths of each run. Year 3 children used perimeter to create artwork whilst in Year 6 children used the internet to find out how far our food travels from its original source…and much, much more!

Please keep an eye out on the class pages to find out what each class did this week!
  • Remembrance Day

    Tue 11 Nov 2014
This year Remembrance Day takes on additional significance as it marks the 100th anniversary of the commencement of the First World War. As a school we all took part in a minutes silence to remember those who have taken part in wars, especially those who gave their lives. We also shared artwork and poems which the children had completed in class as part of their learning. It was lovely to see so many children wearing their poppies and being able to explain why they were wearing them.
  • TOP SECRET: A Very Special Visitor...

    Fri 27 Jun 2014

On Monday 23rd June, we were all amazed when we received a special letter from FIFA regarding the World Cup trophy.

We haven't been able to share this amazing news with you until now, as we were under strict instructions from FIFA to keep it secret!

It's been very difficult to keep it to ourselves but we hope you all understand the security risk involved.

We can tell you though that the cup is making a ‘special journey’ across the world to Brazil ahead of the final match on July the 13th.

It is being 'loaned' to different school across the world and for three days, we were to ‘ADMIRE’ and ‘ASPIRE’ whilst the cup was in our possession.

Unfortunately, and quite worryingly, the cup did go missing overnight! As it was a matter of importance, Mrs Brennan did have to inform FIFA and the police about the disappearance.

To help the police with their investigation, we took photos of the crime scene, made 'missing' posters, gathered evidence on any mysterious events at school that week and wrote evidence sheets on our members of staff.

Thankfully, the thief (who still remains anonymous) handed the World Cup trophy in at Coppull Police Station the following day. Phew!

The police investigation is still open and maybe the thief will get caught eventually....
Meanwhile, all the children still have their own suspicions as to whom it could be so do ask them about it! I don't think we'll ever forget the time the World Cup came to Coppull Parish!
  • Y5 & Y6 Orienteering Competition

    Mon 23 Jun 2014

After school today, 4 children from our school took part in an Orienteering Competition at Gillibrand Primary School.

In connection with the World Cup currently being held in Brazil, the children had to answer many different questions based on the flags, capital cities of those countries taking part in the 2014 World Cup.
They also had to know some extra information about the host cities
and winners of each World Cup competition.  It was no easy task!

Amazingly, against 5 other schools, Coppull Parish not only did well but actually WON the competition!

Many thanks to Miss Grimes and Miss Robson for taking the children and supporting them at this event.

  • Sports Day

    Thu 19 Jun 2014

Thankfully the rain held off and we were able to hold our annual Sports Day today.

All of the classes had been busy practising for this event and it was such a wonderful morning for everyone involved.

It was great to have so many visitors join us and we hope they enjoyed seeing us try our best at many different activities.

Once all of the result shad been collated, the GREEN team were named as winners of the 2014 Coppull Parish Sport Day.

The children were a credit with their effort and determination, but more importantly their sportmanship throughout.  Well done children!
