On Monday 16th June, Coppull Parish took part in the Chorley Sports Partnership Commonwealth Games baton relay. This was held as 2014 sees the games being held in Glasgow.
Many schools in Chorley took part, with each school representing a school that is part of the Commonwealth Games. We represented The Bahamas and during the day we learnt many different facts about this country and the Commonwealth itself.
We received the baton from Coppull Primary School, who represented England, and showed them a big whole-school welcome on the school field. Representatives from our school then greeted the visitors with a short speech before exchanging batons.
Then, on Tuesday 17th, we took our baton of friendship to All Saints Primary School who represented the country Canada.
Today, James from Bible Explorer, came into school to hold a special whole-school worship with us.
James has worked with children in Year 5 & Year 6 last half term on the Old and New Testament stories.
It is always great to have James with us and we especially enjoyed singing along with him and his guitar on a few choruses today. It was also good to meet James and Dean who are currently working with James as they attend Bible College.
We really liked learning about a man named Saul in one if their wonderful Bible stories.
Today, KS2 held a very special event.
The draw was held for the Coppull Parish World Cup 2014
At a special assembly, the teams from children in Years 3-6 were drawn by our very own Mrs Brennan, Mr Lean and Mr Hedges.
The Coppull Parish World Cup begins on Monday the 2nd June and we will
keep you updated with the scores!
Good luck everyone!
Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry for our decorative Easter Egg and Bonnet Competition.
As always, the children impressed us with their very creative and imaginative ideas. We had everything from Angry Birds, One Dir'egg'tion, Gangsta 'Egg' Granny and even Flamingo Eggs!
The Easter bonnets looks beautiful and were decorated with everything from bunnies, nests, eggs and bows!
We hope you like looking at the photographs of some of the entries we received - they were all egg-cellent!
The winning entries were...
YR - Layla Alty
Y1 - Tara Hamer
Y2 - Jacob Spence
Y2/Y3 - Lacey and Phoebe Booth
Y4 - Abigail Warley
Y5 - Amy Smith
Y6 - Joseph Bramwell
Many thanks to all of the children who entered this competition - they certainly brightened up our school entrance this week!
Today, Stuart, an archery fanatic, made a special visit to our school to show us a new skill.
Firstly, he gave a talk about all the different bows that have been constructed through the generations, such as long bows and the compound bow.
He explained that the most expensive bow, a precurved bow, could cost you around £4000, whereas you could get one for around £100.
After that he told us some interesting facts. He explained that over 5000 archers were needed at the Battle of Ajencourt. The enemy thought that the sun had been blocked out because of all of the arrows in being fired! Over 60,000 arrows were fired per hour during the battle. Amazing!
Lastly, he took each class outside to take some aims at targets using an Olympic bow. The highest score you could have got was 30 points, although the highest score in Year 6 was 24.
I hope you enjoy reading about our fun archery as much as we did doing it!

On the 12th March our school has a special visit by an author. The author was called Adam Perrott and we had a lot of fun when he came.
Firstly, he talked about his books and told us funny stories (by the way, his books are called ‘The Odds’ and ‘The Odds Strike Back’). After that, he played some games with us and read more of his wonderful books.
Finally, he signed all of the books that the school has bought. We had our photograph taken with him too.
If your child bought a book or two, you have probably seen them reading it
as many of us couldn’t wait to read them!
Our playground this morning was filled with book characters as we celebrated
World Book Day here at Coppull Parish.
As you can see from the photographs, school welcomed Harry Potter, Gangsta Granny, Horrid Henry, Little Red Riding Hood, Wally and even the Cat in the Hat to name but a few.
All of the classes had a book-filled day which started off with a whole-school parade and the unveiling of our new 'Book of the Month' thanks to Ebb and Flo Bookshop in Chorley.
The School Council and School Librarians organised another Book Swap event for the
afternoon which everyone really enjoyed and many couldn't wait to read their new books!
Many thanks to everyone for making it such a wonderful World Book Day 2014!

As part of National Storytelling Week, the whole school have been secretly rehearsing a special book-themed dance named 'Gotta Keep Reading'.
Today was the day when we shared this dance with parents and surprised them with a Coppull Parish FLASH MOB of the routine!
It was great fun and reinforced how important and fun reading can be.
We hope all of the parents enjoyed it as we certainly did!
