  • Wigan Ukulele Band Concert

Fri 21 Dec 2018 Mrs Bird
We were very lucky that Mrs Jones, our Music leader, arranged for the Wigan Ukulele Band to perform for the children yesterday afternoon. They thoroughly entertained the whole school with performances of popular Christmas songs, and were accompanied by our talented Year 4 class, who accompanied them with their ukuleles. They ended the show with 'The 12 Days of Christmas' with each class completing an action to accompany their line of the song - it was hilarious, exhausting and a great way to end the show. Thank you to the Wigan Ukulele Band for visiting us again this year, and to Mrs Jones for organizing it all. We had a ball!
  • Choir perform for Mayor at Astley Hall

Tue 04 Dec 2018 Mrs Bird
Last Friday, the Coppull Parish Choir were asked to perform for the Mayor, Councillor Margaret Lees, at Astley Hall. The historic setting (all bedecked in Christmas decorations) was breath-taking, the choir were amazing and performed a wonderful medley of Christmas songs and carols led by Mrs Bridge. The audience were highly entertained and very appreciative and we have just had a visit from the Mayor at school today, extending an invitation for our choir to have an official visit to the Town Hall as a thank you. Well done Mrs Bridge and our very talented choir.
  • Coppull Parish Remembers

Fri 09 Nov 2018 Mrs Bird
This week our Year 6 children delivered a powerful assembly all about the Great War and Remembrance, which looked at the lives of some of the key historic figures and their contributions to our lives today. Every child in school then helped to create a river of poppies flowing into our playground as a memorial to the fallen.
  • CHIP Celebration Concert

Tue 16 Oct 2018 Mrs Bird
Our Glee club, which is run by the talented Mrs Jones and Miss Holme, have been working hard to learn a fantastic new dance routine to perform at the CHIP celebration concert. The event took place last night and our children were fabulous. They showcased their dance skills to all the other schools in the Chorley Heads In Partnership cluster and had the opportunity to listen to all the other schools' choirs singing. Once again, we were the only 'dance' act - but a bit of variety is always good. A massive well done to all those involved - you are brilliant ambassadors for Coppull Parish and you made us all very proud.
  • Coppull Parish Careers Week

Mon 15 Oct 2018 Mrs Bird
We are holding a careers week, this week, to show our children a wide range of careers they may want to pursue when they are older. On Monday had a fundraiser from Derien House, a social worker, and a Mental Health Counsellor from Chorley Women's Centre visiting the school. We also asked the children to come to school dressed up in an outfit for their 'dream job'. Look at all the wonderful photographs (there will also be some on Class Dojo!). On Tuesday, we are having a painter & decorator, a midwife, a flood risk analyst, a Police Officer, a clinical psychologist and a quantity surveyor. On Wednesday, we have a farm owner, a magician, an operating theatre technician, the RAF, our vicar and a Prison Warden/Police dog handler. On Thursday we are going sporty, with an Olympic cycling coach and an ex-England volleyball player and another midwife. While on Friday, we have the RNLI in and will end the week with a special assembly about everything the children have learned about future careers this week. What a fabulous week!
  • Harvest donations

Thu 11 Oct 2018 Mrs Bird
Once again our families have responded generously to our Harvest Appeal for donations to the Salvation Army. Donations have been gathering in school all week, and several members of the Ethos group and I dropped them all off at Coppull Parish Church this morning. What a fantastic display of your generosity - I am sure the Salvation Army at Chorley will be delighted with your gifts! We will be taking part in a Harvest Service, led by the vicar, Reverend Matt Hornby, tomorrow - fingers crossed that the predicted storm hasn't arrived for our walk to church.
