  • Last Choir Singing Competition

Mon 19 Mar 2018 Mrs Bird
Mrs Bridge took our newly formed choir to Westfield School at Blackburn on Saturday evening to take part in the Last Choir Singing competition. It was a fantastic event. The standard was extremely high and we were proud to be competing against some long established and very experienced choirs from all over Lancashire. Although they were not placed this year, our choir sang beautifully and made us all incredibly proud of their confident and powerful performance. Well done to Mrs Bridge and all members of the choir for the excellent progress they have made since forming in September.
  • Coppull Parish KS2 Sports Pentathalon

Fri 16 Mar 2018 Mrs Bird

All of our KS2 children have taken part in a Sports Pentathalon organized by Chorley Schools Sports Partnership today. They have been developing their skills at long jump, throwing, hurdles, speed bounce and standing still jumps. This is the second time they have completed this activity this year, so we are looking forward to finding out who has made great improvements. Well done everyone for all your efforts!

Here are some photographs of the Year 3 children taking part.

  • Dan Worsley the author visits Coppull Parish

Thu 08 Mar 2018 Mrs Bird
After a treacherous journey to school through driving snow, Dan Worsley, the author, arrived accompanied by a large cutout figure of Eric Appleby (star of 'Zero to Hero') underneath his arm. After explaining how he became a children's author and sharing the writing process with the children, he told a highly entertaining story entitled 'A pat on the head', which amused the audience no end. He then spent the rest of the morning leading writing workshops in Year 5 and 6. The teachers and children had a brilliant morning and have produced some excellent writing, some of which will feature on Dan's website (danworsley.com). Here are some photographs from the assembly, but I am sure that teachers will be uploading the photographs taken in class onto Class Dojo too.
  • Drama at Coppull Parish

Mon 05 Mar 2018 Mrs Bird
As part of Book Week, we invited a drama company into school to work with Year 3 and 4 on the Iron Man - as this was their Literacy focus last term. Both classes participated in lots of different drama activities, gained a deeper insight into the characters in the book and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. As you can see from the photographs of Year 4.
  • Coppull Parish win GOLD & SILVER in dance competition

Mon 05 Mar 2018 Mrs Bird
Last week Coppull Parish's dance group, the Glee Club, entered an inter-school dance competition at Southlands High School and were thrilled to win two medals for their amazing street dance routines. Mrs Jones and Miss Robson, who run the club, were absolutely delighted and proud of the girls' achievements. Well done to all involved.
  • Coppull Parish learn about Fairtrade

Fri 23 Feb 2018 Mrs Bird
Cath Greenlees visited Coppull Parish this week to tell the children all about the work of Fairtrade, which aims to give a fair deal to farmers around the world. She explained that by purchasing products with the Fairtrade logo on, we will helping poorer communities and ensuring that farmers get paid a minimum of £2.50 a day - which still doesn't seem much, but is a marked increase on what they were receiving previously. Cath then led workshops throughout the Juniors, before meeting with the Ethos group at lunchtime, to tell them a little bit about becoming a 'Fairtrade School'. The Ethos group feel quite strongly about supporting this cause and tackling poverty in these farming communities worldwide, so will be putting a case forward to the school's Governing Body to see if this is possible. Here are some photographs from the visit.
  • 2018 Ethos Conference

    Fri 23 Feb 2018
Four lucky children from our Ethos group were chosen to attend the annual Ethos Conference at St James' C of E Primary at Chorley this week. They took part in lots of fantastic, engaging activities, which taught them more about the Bible, Jesus and God. All four of them had a great time, made new friends and learned new things. They were also wonderful representatives for the school: well done Tara, Faye, Daisy and Ava, you have made us very proud.
  • Eco-Council win Lancashire Recycling competition!

Thu 08 Feb 2018 Mrs Bird
Our Eco-Council, led by Miss Grimes, have been busy recycling used Christmas cards and recycling and re-using them for craft activities. As a result of this initiative, they have won a Lancashire Recycling competition and Coppull Parish have been given 10 lovely, wooden stools for the school. A photographer from Lancashire County Council came into school and took photographs of our Eco-Council and their prize, as they are sending this good news story to the Lancashire Post and the Chorley Guardian, so we may be in the news! Well done Eco-Councillors and Miss Grimes!
  • BAD day at Coppull Parish

Fri 19 Jan 2018 Mrs Bird
Or 'Bible Art Day' to be more precise! As a Church school, we feel it is important that we begin each term by focusing on one of the many wonderful Bible stories and representing it through Art. Here is the work our classes have produced for the Spring term.
  • Wigan Ukelele Band Concert

Thu 21 Dec 2017 Mrs Bird
The children of Coppull Parish were thoroughly entertained yesterday afternoon by the musicians of Wigan Ukelele Band, who put on a special Festive performance for us. They were accompanied at times by our brilliant Year 4 ukelele players and got the whole school involved in performing 'The 12 days of Christmas' - a great time was had by all. The school was happy to donate £100 to Derien House Children's Hospice on behalf of the band, as this is their chosen charity.
