  • Breakfast with Santa

    Fri 01 Dec 2023

🎅 Breakfast with Santa 🎅 What a wonderful morning we’ve had! A big thank you to the PTFA for organising this fantastic event. The children had a great time and couldn’t believe that Father Christmas knew what they had been learning about in class. To finish the morning off each child received a present from Santa 🎁

  • Bridge building STEM challenge

    Mon 06 Nov 2023

On Friday, Year 6 were lucky enough to have a visit from Emma Charnock, who works for Balvac Balfour Beatty, who undertake the repair and refurbishment of the Silver Jubilee Bridge in Runcorn. She showed them a series of bridge constructions and discussed the merits of different building approaches, then set them a bridge building challenge, using a limited number of straws and construction tape. The children had to really think about the best way to bridge a 20cm gap between chairs whilst holding up a container of pennies. This involved understanding how to keep the cup upright, stable and building strength into their bases. It took a lot of trial and error and working together as a team, but they took on the challenge and had a good go. Only one team was entirely successful, but well done to everyone for persevering and a big thank you to Mrs Charnock for this great opportunity (and all the lovely gifts).

  • Anti-hate crime graffiti art competition winners

Mon 06 Nov 2023 Mrs Bird

Coppull Parish, along with the other local schools, were approached by Chorley Borough Council and Lancashire Constabulary to support them with an art initiative to combat hate crime in the local area. We were more than happy to take part, as at Coppull Parish we feel strongly that everyone from any culture, no matter where they were born, or which faith they follow should be welcomed into our community with kindness, love and respect.  Our children welcomed the opportunity to produce a range of art which promoted love, not hate, and they created some beautiful and thought provoking art for the competition. And guess what? SIX of our children won and their art work now forms part of a graffiti mural on the side of the Springfield Pub and the railway embankment in Coppull. Here are a few photographs of the presentation ceremony, which took place at the Springfield Pub on Friday 20th October. A huge well done to Noah, Harvey, Oscar, Daisy, Cora and Mia for their winning entries and promoting love over hate in Coppull.

  • Year 1 Toy Museum

Wed 18 Oct 2023 Mrs Bird

As part of their History learning this term, our Year 1 class have been investigating toys from the past. We needed our families help with this and asked them to send in any toys that they loved or played with when they were young, so that we could set up a Toy Museum for our children to explore. As you can see by the exhibits, the children wrote explanations for the games and toys, and then spent an enjoyable time playing with them. Thank you to everyone who brought in exhibits for our museum, all the visitors who enjoyed it - and well done to our Year 1 historians!
