  • Science Hunters

Tue 10 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
As it is Earth Science Week this week, we invited Dr Jackie Hartley from Lancaster University into school with the Science Hunters project. She taught the children all about volcanoes in an entertaining, interactive assembly; and then spent the rest of the day leading 'Minecraft' workshops, in which children from Reception to Year 6 constructed their own volcanoes. The children learned an enormous amount and had a terrific time.
  • Harvest donations

Thu 05 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
Our school guardians, Mia and Oliver, helped to carry all your generous donations of food to Coppull Parish Church, in preparation for our Harvest Service tomorrow morning. I am sure the Salvation Army at Wigan, will make very good use of it!
  • MacMillan Coffee Morning

Tue 03 Oct 2017 Mrs Bird
Coppull Parish held a MacMillan Coffee Morning today, to raise funds for the MacMillan nurses charity. As usual, we had many excellent bakers, who donated delicious sponges, muffins and cupcakes for the event. Our children, and the parents who were able to join us, thoroughly enjoyed them. This year, Lacey Booth, one of our pupils who suffers from coeliac disease, and our school council, ran a gluten free stall to raise awareness and funds for a coeliac charity. A big thank you to all those that kindly donated cakes, and all those that kindly ate them. You helped us raise £281 for this worthwhile cause.

The children behaved impeccably and had a great time. Let's hope they do it again next year!
  • Coppull Parish has the X-Factor!

Thu 29 Jun 2017 Mrs Bird

Coppull Parish School Council organised a fantastic X-Factor competition on Wednesday 14th of June. It was a wonderful event, which gave children from every year group the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents. We took lots of photographs and clips of the performances. The overall winners were Lottie and Mia, our Dancing Divas. Well done girls, and well done to all the children that took part and the School Council for organising it.

We were blessed with the beautiful weather for our Sports Day last Monday morning. Our children participated in a carousel of team challenges, then took part in individual races - ending in a cross country run around the school grounds. The children were cheered on by their enthusiastic families, who looked like they were all having a wonderful time. The Yellow Team (St David's) were the overall winners, but everyone did themselves and our school very proud.

All four of our Year 6 boys were new to this sport, but thoroughly enjoyed refining and developing their bowling skills during the tournament. It's trickier than it looks! The children were wonderful ambassadors for the school, as they displayed excellent team spirit, good sportsmanship and were gracious in defeat.
