Way back in September 2020, following the Summer lockdown, which had disrupted the children's learning and impacted on their emotional health and well-being, we decided to build a Well-being Garden for our children and staff to enjoy.
We wanted to create a peaceful oasis, where people could meet, chat and simply enjoy being together, which the children had helped to design and build. We opted for a rainbow theme, as a sign of hope and support for the NHS; and every child painted a pebble, many of which were annotated with messages of love, hope, wisdom and encouragement.
Each class was responsible for painting strips of wood one colour of the rainbow, which Mr Bird then constructed into colourful rainbow benches for the children to sit on. We also planted some beautiful, fragrant herbs and bushes, to attract wildlife and contribute to the sensory nature of our well-being garden.
All in all, it took a lot of hard work, but it looks wonderful and will be well used by the children of Coppull Parish now, and in the future, to support their social and emotional health and well-being, and provide happy memories of time spent with their friends, or simply enjoying a good story together.
