Victorian Day in Year 2 and Year 4

Last Friday, our Year 2 and Year 4 classes stepped back in time to the Victorian Era. Many of them came to school dressed as Victorian children, along with the odd suffragette, and were immersed in this rich period of British history. In order to experience life as a Victorian school child, the boys and girls were taught separately, they sat in rows, wrote on slates, had very strict rules to follow and each gender learned the skills they would need as an adult, so lots of homemaking skills for all those future housewives! A huge well done to all the staff who organized this exciting day for the children; and a big thank you to all the parents for rallying around and sending you into school dressed up in all your Victorian finery. I am sure this will help the children to remember much more about this period of our history.
