Evacuation Day

On Wednesday 2nd May, Year 5 and Year 3 took part in a World War II evacuation day as part of our topic.  We did this so we could try and imagine what it was like to be an evacuee in WWII.  It was a really fun morning pretending to be an evacuee as we got to come to school dressed up as an evacuee as well.

When the pretend train was running, the teachers came to us and asked what we would be feeling if we were a real evacuee.  I said I would be feeling frightened, scared and hopeful about the journey.  When we got off the train we were picked by all of the teachers in the school.  I was chosen by Miss Mayor and we went into the school garden all morning.  Other people did different things like baking, cleaning, playing games and many more.

Then the evacuation day ended at 12 o'clock.  We all had a great day as an evacuee, although I'm not sure if I'd like to be evacuated for real!
