About Our Curriculum

"Growing curious minds, compassionate hearts and courageous learners"

At Coppull Parish CE Primary School, our curriculum is an expression of our Christian vision. We believe that everyone matters in God’s world and that every child deserves the opportunity to flourish. Within our loving school family, we seek to nurture each child’s God-given talents, inspire a love of learning and equip children with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make a positive difference.

“Let our school and our pupils be a light to the world.”
Our school motto, inspired by Matthew 5:16

Our curriculum brings this ambition to life. We want children to achieve well, discover their strengths and understand how they can use their learning to enrich their own lives and the lives of others.

Our vision in action

Our three core values shape the experiences we offer, the relationships we build and the learners we want our children to become.

Curious
We want children to ask thoughtful questions, explore ideas and delight in discovery. Our curriculum develops their knowledge, vocabulary and understanding, helping them make connections and approach the world with interest and wonder.

Compassionate
We want children to recognise the worth of every person. Through their learning, they encounter different lives, cultures, beliefs and perspectives, developing empathy and respect. We encourage them to care for one another, their community and the natural world.

Courageous
We want children to approach challenges with hope and determination. We encourage them to persevere, learn from mistakes, express their ideas and stand up for what is right. Our curriculum helps children develop the confidence to try something new and the judgement to make responsible choices.

A curriculum that builds understanding

Our ambition is to provide a broad, balanced and carefully sequenced curriculum that gives every child a strong foundation for future learning. Beginning in the Early Years and building through Key Stages 1 and 2, learning develops progressively so that children can draw on what they already know as they encounter new ideas.

Reading, language and communication are central to this ambition. We want children to become confident readers, articulate speakers and thoughtful listeners who can access learning across the curriculum. Alongside secure foundations in English and mathematics, we value the distinctive knowledge, skills and ways of thinking that every subject contributes.

We aim for children to remember, explain and use their learning. Opportunities to revisit important ideas, practise skills and apply understanding help children build knowledge that lasts.

Rooted in our community, open to the world

Our curriculum helps children develop a sense of belonging in Coppull while broadening their understanding of the world beyond their immediate experience. We want them to appreciate their local heritage, encounter different perspectives and recognise their place within a diverse society.

We value experiences that bring learning to life and help children discover interests and talents. Learning beyond the classroom can deepen understanding, spark curiosity and show children new possibilities for their future.

Our Christian ethos

As a Church of England school, our Christian ethos shapes our commitment to both academic achievement and the development of the whole child. We want children to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, morally and spiritually.

Religious Education gives children opportunities to develop their understanding of Christianity, other religions and world views and to explore questions about belief, meaning and belonging. Alongside this, collective worship offers an inclusive and invitational space for reflection, prayer and the exploration of our shared values.

Across school life, we encourage children to notice moments of awe and wonder, consider important questions and reflect on their responsibilities towards others. Children of all faiths and none are welcomed and valued within our school family.

An ambitious curriculum for every child

Our belief that everyone matters means that our curriculum must offer every child the opportunity to succeed. We seek to understand children’s strengths, starting points and needs, maintaining high expectations while providing the support and challenge they require.

Our aim is to remove barriers to participation and learning so that all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities and those facing disadvantage, can develop confidence, experience success and achieve well.

What we want for our children

By the time children leave Coppull Parish, we want them to have secure knowledge, a love of learning and the confidence to take their next steps. We want them to know their own worth, recognise the worth of others and approach the future with aspiration and hope.

Above all, we want them to leave as curious, compassionate and courageous young people, ready to be a light to the world.
