Spirituality Week

For Spirituality Week the children have been learning about Hinduism, so that they can connect with other cultures and religions, reflect on their own faith and beliefs and have opportunities for creativity, joy and WOW moments. During the week each class learned about Hindu Gods and chose their favourite to focus on. Children have also learned about Hindu festivals, including Diwali and wedding ceremonies, had an opportunity to make Diva lamps and wear traditional Hindu wedding clothes. To add to the experience, they have enjoyed listening to some traditional music, learned an energetic dance routine, been creative through arts and crafts and designed and constructed a Hindu shrine for their class. The week will culminate on Diwali, with a celebration in the hall, surrounded by the beautiful shrines, performing the dances, eating the delicious food they have cooked and welcoming one of our grandparents, who has shared her experiences of growing up as a Hindu child in India and moving to the UK as an adult. It has been a really memorable and fun-packed week, which the children have thoroughly enjoyed. Here are some photographs of our 'show and tell' assembly today, where each class shared their learning, showed us their shrines and, in some cases, performed dance routines to the delight of the rest of the Coppull Parish family.
