17th April Y5 Forest School.

Before we went pond dipping and sketching near the pond, we made viewfinders to help choose a composition for our sketches. This involved choosing straight sticks and maybe cutting them, using various tools, to a suitable length.
Next we used string to tie the sticks together.
On our walk to the pond we read a very sad notice about a poor little child who had been bitten on the face by a stranger’s dog. We also noticed spring flowers and a coot’s nest.
We enjoyed discovering some tiny invertebrates that live in ponds. We also found some frog spawn.
Some of us had a go at sketching the scene through our viewfinders.
Finally we had a drink and snack at the nearby café.
